To care for your bamboo toothbrush it’s important to rinse the brush before and after use, and AIR DRY between uses. Do not stand in a wet cup, as constant moisture can cause this natural product to grow mould. But if kept dry this should never be a problem.

Dentists recommend brushing your teeth twice daily and replacing your brush every 3 months or after illness. (Not because the bristles are splayed, but because of bacterial build-up after this time)

How about the nylon bristles?

Some customers have asked about nylon toothbrush bristles and microplastics, so we wanted to share a clear and balanced summary of the science.

Like many everyday materials, nylon bristles can gradually wear over time. But measuring particles released during simulated brushing is not the same as measuring what is actually swallowed. During normal brushing, most foam and debris is spat out and rinsed away, which likely reduces real-world ingestion substantially.

A recent 2025 study found some toothbrushes released particles during testing, but the same researchers concluded oral care products did not directly increase overall health risks associated with microplastic exposure.

Current evidence also suggests everyday exposure to plastics is influenced more by sources such as food packaging, bottled water, household dust, and synthetic textiles than by your toothbrush alone.

We believe customers should be free to choose what suits them best. Some prefer nylon bristles for consistency, durability, and hygiene. Others prefer a natural alternative to reduce synthetic materials. We respect both views, which is why we’re excited to soon launch our boar bristled bamboo toothbrush.

Our view is simple: informed choice matters more than scare tactics.

If you choose nylon bristles: brush gently, rinse well, let your brush dry between uses, and replace every 2–3 months.

If you choose boar bristles: use gentler pressure, rinse thoroughly, store upright in a dry ventilated area, allow it to fully dry, and replace every 5–8 weeks or when worn.
